To mark the publication of the book “ZUKUNFTSMUTIG” (FUTURE-BOLD) (Kremayr & Scheriau Publishers) by Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and its Research Cluster | Sustainability in the Arts, together with the cultural future platform ReGenerativa, invite you to a book presentation and panel discussion on the topic
The Freedom of Art in the Context of the Climate Crisis and Artificial Superintelligence
on Monday, April 27, 2026, at 19:00 hours
at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (Anatomiesaal),
Schillerplatz 3, 1010 Vienna (free admission)
The freedom of art is a central achievement of liberal democracy. At the same time, society expects art to address the major issues of the future, particularly in the context of the dual eco-social and digital transformation, and to contribute to solving them. Do art universities therefore have a priority task in communicating these key topics of the future and their central importance for their students' future artistic work?
Panelists:
Veronika Dirnhofer, artist and professor, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
Johan Hartle, Rector, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
Rainer Prohaska, artist and lead coordinator of the Research Cluster | Sustainability in the Arts, Academy of Fine Arts Vienna
Nikolaj Schultz, sociologist and author
Christoph Thun-Hohenstein, author of the book ZUKUNFTSMUTIG and artistic director of the future platform ReGenerativa
The event will be held in English.
